Wallets show a validator's displayed commission. We show what's actually applied at the era snapshot — so commission-sniping bots and dead validators have nowhere to hide. Every flag links to the on-chain transaction.
A "commission sniper" displays a friendly low rate (e.g. 20%) but flips it to 90% for the few minutes each era's rewards are snapshotted, then flips back. Wallets show the 20%. We reconstruct the value that was actually live at the era snapshot from the validator's on-chain staking.validate transactions — and link every change so you can verify it yourself.
Every nominator of a validator earns the same reward-per-stake. We sample real stakers' payouts to show the yield you'd actually earn — which already bakes in commission and performance, even when a validator hasn't set an on-chain commission.
Read straight from chain storage, not from an indexer: each era's reward pot × the validator's share of era points, minus commission, minus its own stake's portion. That is exactly what its nominators received, computed rather than sampled, and it is current the moment a payout lands. The chain prunes era data after 84 eras, so totals are a rolling ~84-day window.
Rewards compound, so a validator that skips days quietly costs you. We score how many of the recent eras it was active it actually paid: pays daily scores highest, missed days drop it. A validator we can't confidently assess shows "—" rather than a guess.
These are two different questions and we keep them apart. OFFLINE means the node earned zero era points — it is not authoring or answering, the same signal the Reef console shows. NOT PAYING means the node is running fine but its stakers have not received rewards recently, which still needs claiming. A newly elected validator is marked NEW and accused of neither, because its first payout is not due yet. A ✓ verified tag means a registrar confirmed the on-chain identity, so you can tell a real operator from a look-alike that just reused the name and website.
